    DJ Frame to Cj conversion

During my recent adventure to the Jeep Salvage Yard, a DJ frame caught my eye. It had been in the process of being converted for use in a CJ-5. The frame is boxed along the front half of the frame(original I assume). It still needs the front cross member installed and the V6 engine mounts. It was in excellent shape and nicely painted black. Looking through the slots/holes in the boxed part of the frame it's clean with no rust. The PO had also installed new 5 leaf cj-5 springs front and rear. The rear springs have been relocated to below the frame like on the CJ.
In conversation with one of the employees there, he said that the PO had gotten tired of the project and had bought a Cherokee instead.

Alright, so you're wondering where I'm going with this. Well my frame "works" but is rusty and the PO has done several welding repairs to the hangers and frame(cracks). I was planning to remove it next winter and have it sandblasted and repaired/gusseted ect.. I also need new springs as they are saggy, equally saggy though ;)

So here's my thoughts on this. The "Yard" wanted $550 for the frame and new springs. I'll have to weld the motor mounts and front crossmember on(not a problem for me). My "TUX" has 10 leaf springs in front instead of 5 leaf.

    1. What do I lose/gain by going from 10 leaf to 5 leaf on the front?

    2. Are there any problems I might have missed?

    3. In the future I plan on adding a power steering Saginaw so I'd have to at least box my existing front anyway.

    4. I do need to get a quote on just the frame as I might want to install a 2.5 inch lift instead of new stock lift springs that are already on the DJ frame. I assume that might bring the frame price to about $300-$400. Does that sound resonable??

Sorry I forgot to get "pics" of the frame ;)

    Thanks much!!!!
