I'm just about done converting the M38A1 from 24V to 12V. Swapped out the bulbs yesterday.

I pulled out the 24V flasher and bought an off the shelf NAPA 12V flasher. Didn't work. Brought it back and bought a Signal Stat 263. Didn't work. Pulled a Grote 44540 flasher from the '63 CJ5 and put it in the A1, works fine. Put the Signal Stat in the '63, works fine.

Why is the Grote the only one that works in the A1?

Try swapping them back and see what happens..maybe the contacts were corroded and by plugging and unplugging you cleaned them off....I know mine was intermittent for a while until I "cycled" the flasher unit in and out of the socket several times...

Thanks for the reply Randy. The prongs on the 24V unit were a bit corroded, so that could be it. Maybe I'll try putting in a new holder and see what that does.

That's what it was, cleaned them up and it's working fine now. Thanks Randy!
