thought some of you might like to see the welds and mods that the po did to use saginaw ps with a bellcrank now that i have removed all of it.\

the clumps are welds not dirt.

anyone have experience with the advanced adapters/flaming river intermediate shafts vs. the borgesons?

thanks for any and all info

that has to be without a doubt the WORST hacked up steering set-up I have ever seen......and I hope to ever see again!!!!
still can't believe someone would trust their life to that set-up!!!!!!
I think of the old CHP vehicle inspections we used to have here 25-30 years ago; actual roadblocks where the CHP would pull your vehicle out of line and inspect it; I can see the look of an inspectors face as this Jeep rolls up to a stop !!!!
    Jeeps were always favorite targets!!

I won't swear to this, but I personally don't think Flaming River makes anything, they have it made for them or buy it.
The reason I say this, is on there website they mention nothing about building things, however when you call Borgeson you can actually hear the machines running in the back ground and you used to be able to see pictures of there Haas milling machines making parts. I have seen several Flaming river joints and they are exact duplicates including the tooling marks to the Borgeson joints I have bought and seen. Borgeson has also been making universal joints since 1914, Flaming river never mentions any where on there site that they make, they only mention that they are CNC made, but not who makes them or how long they have been in business. I think they are simply a middle man for other companies.
Can you tell I show a little favoritism toward Borgeson?????????
    Thats my .02 ;)

HRUMPH....I believe the fact it held together at all is a standing testement to the PO's welding ability. Now, if you will look closely at the welds, you will note that they go from left to right, not right to left. This tells us that it definatly came from the south. HOWEVER, the lack of paint shows that the PO wasn't from the artistic areas around the Northern South, but farther West. My guess is this art was produced by the elusive Slagpicker tribe habatating the lower Texas panhandle.

re. welding    this kind of humor is why i like this site so much. tho' my welding not exactly pretty either esp 18 ga. sheet metal. (this welding was done either in AZ or CO)

btw re. borgeson that's sort of the way i felt after looking through their steering design docs and speaking with them on the phone.

on futher examination i would also place it circa 2002 due to the slight tang and fruity yet subtle hint of oak after taste :stout:

I will admit that the cut/welded/and bolted custom dropped pitman arm that I made when I first installed my dana 44's was a bit worse than that. It only allowed for about a half turn of the steering wheel before the wheels turned. Got rid of that in a hurry.

Are you sure it was worse? Just doesn't seem possible anything could be worse.
