Does anybody know what these threaded holes are for in my frame? 1956 CJ5 frame, there's a pair of threaded holes on each side. I can't for the life of me figure out what they're for, or remember anything being mounted there. I want to know if I can use those holes as an attachment point for homemade brackets for the front brake lines. They're not in exactly the same spots on both frame rails, but very close. I'd rather use those holes than drill & tap some new ones.

I need to rig up a bracket something like this, but don't want to weld or drill on my powdercoated frame. (ignore the red circle, no idea what that's about)

Those are where the front flatfenders bolt on on my CJ3A. Maybe jeep just never got rid of them off later frames.

Well, bummer. Those holes are too far aft. I'd have to make a huge, bodacious ugly bracket to get the hose far enough forward to keep it from binding. Back to the drawing board. Looks like I've gotta drill and tap some holes no matter what. <grumble>
