would start with greasing the linkage and while doing that, look for any binding. if no of that helps, depending on your fabing skills, you need to lengthin the throw of the crossshaft.

I agree with 66cj5. The part that needs grease the most seems to be the inside of the cross shaft. This shaft rides on a ball on the t-case and another ball mounted to the frame. You may want to just take it apart, clean it up, and apply grease to all areas that need to slide/rotate.

I ended up put a zerk fitting on the cross shaft so I just pump in some grease whenever doing a regular grease job. It's well worth the effort.

Most or all of the parts are available new. And, they don't cost much. So if something looks real worn out just order a new part.

What kind of clutch linkage do you have? My 9/69 manufactured 5 has a clutch cable. Mine got pretty stiff after a few trips through water I took it off cleaned it up and lubed it works good now. Mike

I fixed my 69 by going to a hydraulic clutch and hanging pedals R)R) Love it.

If the parts are wore . Try jeepdoc.com (krage ) they have every thing you need to redo the linkage part of the clutch for about 32 bucks , I know because I just order a kit lol.
