The snorkle on the air filter housing is made in such a way that you should be able to find some flexible hosing and run that to an area near the headlights where there is a hole in the back of the grill and radiator housing. You'll be able to pull cooler air from that point without having to worry about water. I've seen a few done that way. I'm pretty sure there is no aftermarket cold air induction.

thanks, yep, i have a 4 barrel weber from PO. and have a flat air filter sitting in the heat from the headers. i like the idea of using the stock filter w/ the snorkel, i saw some kits for 4 bl. v8s that begin at 250 bucks... I'll skip that. but I may have to make my own from a smaller cleaner and sheet metal and hose. I'll post this if I do.
    thanks again.

You could piece together your own starting with a Spectre plenum.
I’ve got a double snorkel one like this that I started to make a cool air intake out of.

Lost energy for the project because I’ve found that properly tuned I don’t need a cool air intake. Further, I didn’t necessarily want one for driving in cold weather.

Apparently the only "Weber" 4V is the Carter Weber AFB. Not sure how Weber is connected to Carter, but the AFB is an old design. The Edelbrock carburetors in current production are AFBs. It's just a conventional square-pattern 4V carburetor.

Update - Net sources say the Edelbrock carbs are made by Weber USA, though I cannot find a site for Weber USA. The marine carburetors are labeled Carter Weber AFB. No indication if Weber USA is affiliated with the famous European Weber carb company. But the Carter carbs were definitely taken over by Weber USA somehow.

A Jeep V8 factory air cleaner from '78 on uses cold air induction, and will fit on your carburetor. You'll have to route the intake, and the air cleaner has a vacuum-controlled air door for TAC that may not be to your liking. Later air cleaners have a second vacuum-controlled air door that shuts to trap vapors when the engine is off. My J20 is like this, and I can get a pic for you later, if you want.
