would stay away from alum, it will corode due to electroisis EVERYWHERE that it comes in contact w/steel and yes stainless too. even faster when an electrical ground is present. prefer steel myself, but stainless would be cool and rust away slower.

<edit> almost forgot any pics of the jeep?

    Dan Stew,
I live on a farm and am fixing a 1960 Cj5 for trail and some light road use. I am not restoring it to original specifications but plan on keeping the flat four. Your jeep looks like it has some fairly heavy upgrades and i was wondereing what you did to it. Also, does anyone know where to find an aluminum body for a Cj5 from 1960?

    Dan Stew,
I have a 1960 CJ5 that I am setting up for trail and road use. I am planning on keeping the original flat four but I also plan on making a few upgrades. Your jeep looks like it has been heavily modified, what modifications did you make? Also, does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced aluminum tub for my CJ5?

    Thanks

Reasonable priced aluminum tub, probably not around unless you look real hard for a used one. Aluminum wasnt a factory option unfortuantely. As for modifying, i have done a little bit ;) pretty much i first started to make the jeep a bit safer for the road, added larger brakes and saginaw steering. The ross is fine for jeeps that arent lifted but if you lift it, it may be something for you to look into. I modified the rest after riding some harsher terrain and started to break stuff. As for a stock jeep the CJ5 is pretty tough, i would just suggest getting it running an then figure out later what you want to modify, enjoy the jeep, when you get into modifying it really good the jeep tends to be in pieces more than driving, beleive me i wish i drove mine more

Ya - I need another one...

It's not worth their $100 handling fee and eBay listing fees to me...I'd take it for free or maybe $75.

IIRC MD Juan (Phillipines) used to offer a stainless flat-fender body. Polished Jeepneys are popular in the PI; maybe it has something to do with that.
