D-20 transfer case with a 2whl low range?

I've got a D-20 that has an inline shift pattern and it has a two wheel drive low range. Has it been modified or did some of them have that from the factory? I think the shift pattern is all the way forward is high 4 back one is 2 high then neutral then 2 wheel low then 4 wheel low. Thanks for the info

 

Contrary to what some folks post, It did not come from the factory with that position. What happens is just enough wear occurs in the linkage and shift rails to give the impression of an actual spot for it. I've torn down a couple that did that and in every case the shift rails and linkage was worn. Definitely NOT factory. If the factory wanted 2 wheel low they certainly would not have machined the rails and installed the interlocks to keep it from happening.
