I spotted this 1975 CJ6 it looks like an old forest service rig. The body is pretty straight, motor is there and the floor boards look good aside from the leaves and car parts.

Is that rear lock-outs or just a cap? Looks like a very good project rig.

    It looks weathered, but mostly complete. It's a 3-speed ... check the VIN whether it's a 258 (last letter A) or a 232 (last letter E).

It came with a hard top from the factory (see plates not latches on the windshield). The body sides of the hard top door hinges are highly sought after.

The picture of the vin I took indicates an A so it's a 258. The rear doesn't have lockouts that I can tell. It's located in
Montana. I asked the owner if he would sell it and he threw out 1800. I am thinking 1000 is a fair offer.

Has a Levis back seat - if that's original, doubtful it was a fleet vehicle.

Alpine White (code 563) was a factory color that year. I'd buff off the peeling green and touch up the white - would be an easy color to touch up. Not my favorite car color, but it would be quick and presentable. Definitely has potential.

My 1975 CJ5 was built in June 1975 and the last 5 digits are 66190. I wonder how late in the production year that was before they started tooling for the 1976 models. Thinking it was late in the production year.

June is way, way late. Recall that the new model year starts in September in that era, and there was a lot of tooling up to do for the 1976 model year... lots of changes. 1975 was the end for the domestic CJ-6, so who knows what the supply dynamics were at that point. I know that the dealership I worked for took as many CJ-6s as they could get at the end of the 1975 model year. Mine (my first one - not the current one) was one of the last pair they got.

Thanks. I have not been able to figure our the sequential numbers AMC used. There were about 35,000 CJ5 and CJ6's manufactured that model year yet mine sequential number is much higher. Any insight? (BTW the original owneer purchased in October 1975, I have the warranty card.)

The sequential numbers include all Jeep vehicles.

Title it as a historic vehicle, All you need would be a bill of sale.

Possibly. That depends on the state you live in and the state the vehicle was last registered.
