56 Willys with Buick?

    Have a 1956 Willys CJ5 with a Buick motor. The mounts are broken (home made) and need to fix. Any idea what kind of motor this is:
    casting=991508, engine= DRH 242 (this is very faint and may be wrong), intake= Offy 360, and it is an odd fire motor with points.

    Howdy from Pittsburgh, PA! When you get a chance, please fill out you rprofile with a little information about yourself and your new Jeep. You'll find the info on this site to be top-notch, as are the folks who hang out here.

    From your limited description, I would say that you have a Dauntless 225 V-6, since it is an odd-fire motor with the Offy 360 intake. I might be wrong (not that THAT has ever happened before :rofl: ) but the 225 and its cousin the 198 Fireball didn't have many parts that interchange, and I'm not sure that the intakes were interchangeable. Offy definitely made that intake for the 225 though. The casting number 996503 would indicate a 1967-74 Dauntless 225 also. You sure about that last digit?

    Thanks for the scoop. It appears I have joined some sort of strange cult; as long as I get to burn fossil fuel, sign me up.

    Fyi, the casting # last digit may either be a 3 or an 8. I have the info to get her back on the road now.
