One of the guys on Jeep forum has a problem with his D18 leaking at the rear output. Years ago I owned a 64 CJ-6 and I seem to vaguely remember folks using double seals on the rear output to help the leakage problem. Any of you early CJ guys hear of doing this?

Yes it's been done. Typically if a quality seal is used, the yoke seal surface is in good shape, and some quality sealer is used on the splines, there should be no leaks. Problems arise when the above is not adhered to. Also the vent cannot be plugged.

Might direct him here if he has questions.
