    I am finishing up my restoration and am ready to wire up the fuel gauge. I have a new speedo cluster with the gauge in it, a new sender, and new tank. The sender has only one wire on it. The gauge has 3 posts, S, I, and A. The A post has a jumper wire that goes to the A post on the volt meter. My questions are;

    1. The tank needs to be grounded, yes?

    2. The wire from the sender goes to the S post, yes?

    3. The 12 v power supply goes to the I post, yes?

    4. Now, here's where I'm unsure. I am not going to use the volt meter in the cluster. I am going to use an aftermarket 2" volt meter instead.
    My question is, do I need to run a jumper wire from the A post on my fuel gauge to my 2" volt meter like the one on my cluster, or is the jumper
    wire just there to regulate the voltage to the volt gauge in the cluster?

    I've read several threads but none are using the alternate gauge. Just don't want to fry anything.

    Correction, the jumper wire goes to the temp gauge in the cluster, there is no volt meter. So do I need to do anything with the jumper wire or just leave it there. I'm not using the temp gauge in the cluster either.

    Hi - there is a diagram from Howard (?) out there that shows the gauges connections. If you search, you should be able to find it. You could also consult the factory manual - that will show you the wiring diagram and what connects where. Use Google to search - "site:earlycj5.net <your search terms>".
