Floor drains?

Is there supposed to be some sort of plugs in the floor drain holes, or are they always open? The rubber mats I have cover them, but I'm curious if something's missing.
    Thanks!

Really? Every new CJ that I looked at had them. And I do not recall a line item in the invoices of the Jeeps I bought.

If they were missing, you'd have holes in the floors.

I have always believed they came standard issue in my one-owner '57 CJ5 and my '51 M38A1. Also had them in a '56 and a '73. Hard to imagine they were all special ordered.

I'm thinking of the wrong ones. I'm thinking of the ones in the sides of the flatties.

I was expecting them to be some sort of rubber plugs, but that makes much more sense and explains the screw hole between the two holes.
    Thanks once again, guys!

Just an FYI, the thumbscrew is brass.

IIRC the thumbscrew is like this -

    (picture from McMaster-Carr).

The earlier ones could have been brass, but I believe that they switched to plain plated by the '70s. I've owned two '75s, and both had plastic snap-in buttons instead of screws, also IIRC.

Anyone have a photo of where they go. I have a fglass body and the donor Jeeps were too shot to measure.

this is the passenger side on my 71. Not sure where it goes on the drivers side for you because I have a rear fuel tank, the drain hole is where the tank would have been.

My '69 (gas tank under the seat) has the drain holes in the exact same spot left and right, like Homersdog.
