Ok, so after all sort of issues with the jeep earlier today, it started running good enough to wheel a little bit. Then all of a sudden it would not run under 2k rpms and so when i stopped and popped the hood, this is what I saw. Carb is fairly new and I have NO idea how this could have happened.

Vindictive neighbor? Looks like it was hit with something. Top of the screw looks smashed.

    Also, it's not a Holley carburetor. It's a Motorcraft 2100.

Should be easy enough to find a new top. Walk the ford row at your local pick n pull, there will be tons of those carbs.

I had a Holley on my 75 304.. key word "had".. I then installed a MC2100, much much better offroad.. I just installed a TBI, and am more than satisfied.. FWIW i now have a 2100 I am not using any longer.. And the Holley? I gave it away..

Here is the thing...the carb was not like that when i first got to the park...I know this because I was trying to fix my starter solinoid and I had the hood open most of the day trying to keep it running. Oh well, the carb is fairly new and I dont have the money to fully replace it so i will look for that top piece. What carb would you guys recomend?

The 2100 is a good carburetor for a Jeep. The hole should not affect the function of the carburetor, unless it bent the carb body so bad that it changed the float setting. Try and fix it with JBWeld.

I was thinking about trying it. The only thing it was doing was spilling fuel all over the manifold.

I took the jeep to a buddies house today and when I fired it up to move it into the drive way, I noticed fuel just boiling out of the two...tubes are sticking up just in front of the butterfly on either end.

That means the float is stuck and the needle valve is being help open. The tubes are the bowl vents.

It's possible that the damage has distorted the carb body enough so that the float movement binds. The only way to know is to take the carb top off and look at it.

Or maybe the float sticks anyway ... Sometimes when the float sticks, you can tap on the carburetor to knock the float free. Possibly someone got carried away, trying to free a stuck float?

Im the only one who works on my jeep and I tapped the carb earlier that day with the backside of a screwdriver but on the opositve side and towards the bottom. I was thinking about it today and remembered that ever since the tow hitch fell while my dad was driving it, the carb never acted the same...wonder if the impact could have cracked the carb a bit and messed up my float. In the next day or so, im going to try to use JB weld and fit that corner and inspect the float and see if I can see whats going on.
