I've combed the internet for these numbers, and came up with nothing. I'm hoping someone here can let me know year and model of Jeep this radio came out of:
    Sticker Reads "Model 5KJ1505"
Stamped number "15C42290" then an "A12" stamped under that number.

    Thanks.

What year are talking about Curt? My 71 had a push button AM radio with an AMC logo on the face. Is that what you have? I can dig it out of the attic if you pics of it. No sticker on mine.

Here are some pics. BKD, I agree. I've never been able to find any evidence of a factory radio for the early CJ's. I'm assuming this one came out of an intermediate or maybe a different model altogether; but, can't find any info on it. It caught my eye because it has a built-in speaker in the plastic casing, and it has the AMC Jeep logo on the faceplate (so this would rule out any AMC cars).

Perfect. That's close enough for me. Might have to consider getting the guts replaced to get 2-speaker output, fm and a Pandora radio (via cell phone) input; but, keeping the vintage look. Just need to remove that AMC logo, and save up the money.

    Thanks.

Worh more to collectors if you leave it alone.

Also would be cheaper to just add an aftermarket underdash stereo to your Jeep.

When I was researching last year, I noticed vintage radios are expensive. I agree with you. Plus, I would prefer to keep this one in original condition, and see it go back into a Jeep :) I can always bastardize some other radio that doesn't mean as much (or cost as much). It's insane, what just the knobs and faceplates are worth!
