I saw the post just before this about the jeep not wanting to shift into first after turning it on. I have a similar issue, but I just put in a hydraulic clutch. When I first tried, I figure for sure it was the hydraulic slave not having enough throw.

However, after the first time i get it into gear, it is fine after that. For example, I had to maneuver the jeep out of the garage today. The first time I shifted into gear there was some grinding. Then I shifted into Reverse with no grinding, back to first with no grinding. I shut it off to try it again and same thing.

The jeep has been sitting for 7 years, so I wonder if that has something to do with it. I will check the fluid level when I get a chance, so that may be an issue as well. I also increased the throw of the clutch by adjusting the linkage a bit and still get grinding.

    Any thoughts?

After sitting could also be some surface rust on the flywheel and pressure plate which will cause grabbing. Start with the things that have been changed (hydraulics) first.
