Pertronix dwell

    The FSM calls for 30* points dwell on the 225. Just installed a second Pertronix 1165 and now am getting 48* again. Engine idle with points was smooth - with Pertronix very rough. Valve timing for both set at 5*BTC. Dist shaft end play within the required tolerance. Any thoughts?

    Valve timing? I assume you mean ignition timing. A while back there was a large batch of 1165's that had a backwards magnet ring. Try turning the ring 180° and see how it runs.
