Frame Storage...

    Just purchased a '71 frame, complete from front bumper to rear draw bar. I've removed the tank, tranny crossmember/ skidplate, master cylinder and all brake lines from it. Although I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all of that, I do want to save the frame. I was thinking of having it sandblasted and then coating the bare metal to prevent any more rust. The frame is very solid, no cracks, just has surface rust that I want to arrest before it gets worse. Any other suggestions?

    If you sand blast it i would also paint it instead of just coating it. That way it will be all ready to go. Sounds like you have the perfect plan for it already.

    You know Chris, if you get rid of the tank... let me know :)

    I am thinking bout getting some extra travel distance

    Depending on the 'Rust Monsters' in your area - I would use Rust Bullet and then hang it on the wall of the shop... Great conversation piece and it get's it out of the way.

    I would check with the local big boat workers in your area, I had a frame DEMET coated. It is a black glossy coating they use on boat hulls,It look nice and will prevent rust. If not check out (POR15) another great looking rust proof coating.
