    Not sure if the type of drivetrain matters; but I'm running a 1970 CJ-5, with a 225 V-6, T-18.

How far should a "properly installed" clutch allow the pedal travel?

All the way.. The clutch arm should rest on the underside of the floor board when up, and the pedal pad should push all the way to the floor when down. Unless you have Hedman headers in which case the clutch arm hits the header just before the pedal reaches bottom.

On a '70 with the cable, the travel is all the way as Patrick described.
Are you maybe talking about the freeplay in the pedal travel before the TO bearing starts to touch the pressure plate? I set mine at about 1".

Oh great! It went to the floor before we swapped a 4 speed in there, and now the resistance maybe gets the pedal halfway down. Nothing blocking it under the floorboard. I haven't messed with the cable adjustment yet; but I assume there's a bigger issue :(

I would measure the arm movement too. At the end as well as in the port on the BH. Mine does not move as much as it did before the SM465 and Hydro setup, but with the armchanges and such it moves as much in the port as any of the others I have seen. It also depends on which clutch you put in - the Chevy or Buick setup as they are different setups with the fingers as different depths.
