Took the 67 CJ5 out today for a spin offroad.. When I got back I noticed some oil leakin.. Looks like it may be the rear main.. Anyone have any idea how much trouble it is to replace this seal?

look up higher first, valve covers or rear of intake manifold
also, engine oil or 80-90 gear oil

looks like engine oil.. The valve covers don't seem to be leakin, but I'l check the rear of the manifold.

This seems to be a common problem for the 225's. I haven't experienced it myself, but two of the guys I wheel with have an intermittant leak at the rear. One guy replaced the rear main (wasn't that big a deal) but it's still leaking. Not continuosly. It could also be the rear camshaft plug.

mine has leaked from day one. i have rebuilt the engine twice and the second time i used the newer seal type instead of that damn rope seal! don't know why the stupid thing leaks but it does.
