I have a radio cutout in my '70 dash. I have decided to mount the radio under the dash instead of using the cutout (Thanks, BKD!). I would like to mount some aftermarket gauges in the general location of my radio cutout. I really like the layout of the flat fender dash. Does anyone know of a chrome intrument panel overlay that I could use as a start to a guage panel in my ECJ5 dash?

If you can't find chrome I bet cut and polished aluminum would look shizzle

What are M38A1 dashes like? Are their gauges in their own panel? If so, maybe you could get one of those chromed.

Thought about the a1 dash, but it's got some extra doodads.

An A1 panel may work but they are probably a lot bigger than you want. If you have access to a drill press, pretty easy to layout what you want and use good hole saws. 1/8" aluminum works well and, like noted, can be polished. The one I did for the 3B I had anodized black. Stewart Warner Deluxe series gages are very similar to stock flattie gages (also what I used).

Maybe I need to try a different angle:
Does anyone know of any vehicle that would use a relatively flat, compact gauge arrangement similar to the flat fender, that still has reproduction parts avail with a good aftermarket following that would have a chrome overlay avail?

Something like an AutoMeter 2105 may work, but good luck trying to find a pic of it-------

I made a new dash for my m38a1, same dimensions as the CJ5. I used the military gauge bezel to hold them in. Real easy.

How about the V-shaped gauge cluster for the '56 Chevy pickup? Or the one in the '57 Chevy sedan (the one with the gunsights on the hood)

If you have access to a CAD system, lay the pattern out 1:1 scale in a .dwg format. There is a fellow in tulsa who can water jet it for you and hold +/-.001" tolerance. I am sure there are folks around OKC who can do the same.
