After much fuss and swearing I finally manage to get the distributor out of my 225 but I broke it in the process. I have a spare that I'm going to swap in but some how the plate that the points mount on to got tweaked on my spare. Does anbody have any idea's were I could get another one? I know I could use one off another Buick 225 or 231 OF but they are kinda scarce around these parts. Would one off another Delco distributor work, or dose any one have a part number for a new one? Thanks in advance.

Use the plate from the broken one in the one you want to install. If that's not an option put a wtb in classifieds or you can get a reman unit from flaps.

If the plate is just slightly bent and not broken then I would take the dist apart and straighten the plate. That dist probably needs to be cleaned and re-lubed anyways.

I bought a reman Delco from NAPA a few years ago-I dont remember the price, but I think it was pretty inexpensive.

I've got one. I switched to an HEI. It was working when I took it out 4 months ago, but don't know anything else about it.

Sigh. From the forum Rules and Guidelines. I'd highly recommend you read these. It's at the top of the page.

I spent some time today trying to fix this. So far I've learned the name of the part I need, the breaker plate. I worked on trying to flatten out the bent one, but have had no luck at doing so. So I layed the old one out of the commando and the one from my Buick 225 and they look nothing alike. None of the holes line up and the shape of the plate is also very different.

The one above came from the 225 Buick while the one below came from my parts Jeep 225, the center is missing on the lower one it fell out when I was trying to flatten it. I was thinking the one on the botton is a reman because it dosen't have any Delco markings on it anywhere. I guess my main question is, does the relationship between the vacum advance and where the points mount matter? I think it would mess with the timing but I'm not sure. :?

What I have found is that if the Delco dist is for a V6 with the vacuum control mounting in the same place, then the points plates are interchangeable. Sorry but no part #..

Good lord man!!! Just convert it to HEI from an early '70's Buick odd fire. Once you go HEI you'll never go back. :)
