6.32 or 4.32 T18

    Others will chime in but that looks to be a granny gear T18

    Checking my notes ... Nick says

    23 tooth input gear = 4.02:1 1st (close ratio)
    17 tooth input gear = 6.32:1 1st (wide ratio)

    Count the teeth on the input gear. Casting number won't help.

    Couldn't you just put it in first gear and turn the input? If it turns 6.3 times for the output to turn once . . . . .

    looks like the 6.38 to me, but looks can be deceiving...

    That's a 6.32-1 version from the pic. The input gear is smaller than the synchronizer dog teeth outside diameter. The 4.02-1 version the gear is basically the same diameter as the od of the synchronizer engagement teeth on the input shaft.

    Thanks. It's located almost 3 hours away and I didn't want to drive there just to find out it is the 4.02 version. I was sure some of you would be familiar enough with this trans to make a good assessment from the picture.
