73 cj intake 1 barrel carb to 2 barrel carb?

    me and my uncle have been tinkering with his 73 cj with the 258 straight 6 in it and we were wondering if we could take the 2 barrel carb and intake off a newer year? would it bolt up? or would it hurt more than it would help?

    Yes, it will bolt up and yes it will help. Take the intake and exhaust from a 1981 or newer 258. But don't use the Jeep carburetor. The Motorcraft 2100 and 2150 are popular, and the Holley-Weber imported by Redline. Lots and lots on the net about this and other hop-ups for the 258, if you search.
