So me and some of my kids took the CJ out for a shakedown cruise. It was beautiful weather here in Georgia so we put about 75 miles on it today, all city type driving with a few stops on the way to see Dave (Dakwag) and Matt (TexasBlues)...great to see you guys - keep up the fight with those Jeeps! Anyway, my Jeep did great, I'm still getting used to the road manners, especially quick (in Jeep dimension) stops. Boy does a 360 with 2V carb drink gasoline, and I didn't even get on the gas...much.

To keep on "tech" topic, about the 60 mile mark or so the speedo decided to suddenly quit working and pegged straight up, which is where it goes when the engine starts as part of its diagnostic. So I pull over, stop the engine, check the wires real quick, looks good so I start it up again and the speedo works fine. I didn't notice until I got home and did a walk around that my blinkers stopped working. They tested out fine before we went. I wonder if the speedo situation and my blinkers are related like a positive wire being grounded or something. All the lights work, including brakes, and no fuses are out.

    Any ideas?

Here's a pic at the end of the day (lights are on). She's tucked into the garage now, ready for a well deserved rest.

Thanks! It was better than 6 years in the making and I finally...finally have been able to get it on the road in perfect time for the warm weather.

That is the 2003 "Atomic Orange"...same as the Nissan Xterra. I used Dupont Nason for base coat and Southern Polyurethane clear.

As said. A beautiful warm day in South Georgia so with no top, I couldn't resist taking the Tux for a ride out to my son-in-laws place and when I got there he was out riding in his CJ6. :p After a few minutes he drove up and had to show me what the brown santa had brought. A new mustang radiator, so we had to check out some electric fans that his neighbor had given him. Tomorrow we will be checking the bracketry we will have to build for the fan install.

This was my first attempt at painting so I have nothing to compare to. It seemed easy to apply and flowed out well, no runs. I also used their 2-part epoxy primer as the base, it's almost like shrink wrapping...that stuff is tough.

I can't figure out why the blinkers quit on me. I inspected every fuse, check the wiring for bad grounds, and positive grounds, and I don't see anything. The emergency flashers work, the markers all work when the lights are on, but the blinkers will not.

Edit to add: It's a GM tilt column.

    Any ideas?

Do the emergency flashers use a different flasher than the turn-signals?

I wish I knew. I can check the original wiring diagram but I don't know how EZWire did their harness.

i saw Norms jeep, as he stated, and its even MORE gorgeous in person... the color really POPS and it sounds great... no rattles or squeaks that i could hear when he pulled up..

it was super cool to meet you to Norm, and i appreciate your offer of letting me take pix of the brake/fuel lines for reference...

cant wait for ALL of us to be able to get together and cruise the town...

Check your turn signal switch, for whatever reason it doesn’t sound like it’s energizing the flasher.

    Not typically.
And since he’s got 4 ways flashing I assume the brake lights are working?

    Thanks for the compliments.

Yes all grounds are good. The strange part is all the lights work normally...headlights, front and side markers, rear markers and tail lights. Brakes work, emergency flashers work. The only thing not working is the blinkers. Fuses were pulled one at a time and all are in good condition, no trips.

I'm thinking faulty switch right now...but I'm not a wiring expert. It is a new switch, bought and installed 3 weeks ago. Blinkers worked fine right up until this past Saturday, they even worked when we started the drive on Saturday. So something happened during that ride that caused just the blinkers to go out. I've checked all the dash connections and they remain tight.

You will/should have a separate flasher for the turn signals. Check for 12V there first as the power goes to the flasher then on to the switch.
