Overdrive Question

    I did a search for this but I was unable to know for sure. Will the warn overdrive work with any D18 transfercase. I have a 1956 cj5 with (I think) T90,D18 and 198 v6(swapped in by PO).Thanks for any info.Awesome web site by the way.

    yes, but ther are 2 different drive gears, a 29 and 26 tooth. You gotta have the right one. Some of the really early ones shifted out the front and won't clear the case top on newer T-cases. One of these guys will know which fits what years.

    I think there is also 6 or 10 spline units (bullgear) but i'm not knowledgable enuff to know what to what though.

    check herms site for sure, but I believe the big difference is between the t90 and t14.

    And as far as the front and rear shifter, the first one's were front, but the rear shifter's will work.(easier to install) Nothing different with the od, just the way the shifter rods are used.

    As it has been said, it really pays to call Herm, especially before you buy. Not only will he work to help you make sure you get the right unit, but his prices on rebuild overdrives are usually only slightly more than you'll pay on eBay or on the various jeep boards. And you'll be sure that your getting a unit thats ready to go.
