I did some bench testing of the vacuum wiper motors--

I know there are numerous threads on how to clean & lube these. I hope to add to them, with this.

The video gives an idea of how much vacuum is needed & how much they use

looks like with the relief valve you've figured out how to have intermitant wipers.

actually, 'intermittent' can be had with the way they are set up from the factory. I found that by pulling the 'on' valve out only part of the way allows for decent regulation of the wiper speed. I was able to get them to run very slowly or full speed.

I have to say I am quite pleased with the performance of the wipers, even at zero vacuum (going up a steep hill with the foot to the floor) they don't slow down much. The auxiliary vacuum pump must be doing it's job, because they still work very well-- with a dry windshield! I haven't had the opportunity to drive in the rain yet. Hopefully it'll be raining tonight!

I really think they are now far superior to any electric wipers I've had. They have more than a 90* throw, are 'self parking' and keep that vintage look & feel. I think the secret to them working so well is using a very thin silicone grease--
