Has anyone bought from rigidsteel.com. They are a lot closer to me than Herms when it comers to shipping expense especially for the larger and heavier items.

Bob, I kinda doubt shipping from Massachusetts to Florida is going to be that much less than from Oregon. Not that I have anything against Rigidsteel.com - If you are really set on buying from them, become a member and ask for information on www.neow.net I looked for a thread about the company there, but the last I found was from 2005.

I don't know one vendor from another and came across this one on line. My brothert in law lives in NC and comes south monthly, I intended to let him take the tranny and transfer case home home and ship from there for repairs. the quotes I got for shipping to herms was between a low of $250.00 to a high of $400.00 one way. thats more than the repairs will cost. open to all sugestions.

Have you talked to Herm about this? I had thought he had a system for shipping transmissions cross-country that made it fairly affordable.

If this is not the case, somebody in your area may have a referral to a local place that can do the work.

I would feel way more comfortable dealing with herm as I have heard nothing but good about him. When I finally pull things apart I will see if he can get better shipping rates. thanks for the info
