What ever you want to run. It is all personal preference as far as tires are concerned.

My '60 with the hurricane and the carter carb gets right at 17 mpg. But then I don't run over 50 mph, either All the roads around me are posted at 45 or 50 mph.

Of coarse I am the only one going 50 mph. All the Jive Turkey Bozo drivers around here like to wait until the very last possible second, and then run 20 mph over the speed limit to get where they are going, instead of leaving earlier and getting there in a lot less frazzled condition.

Agree with you there! Seems the older I get, the more I change into my Dad! Everyone here is in a rush to get there 10 min. early by leaving 10 min. late!!! Thanks for the feed-back on tires and gearing. Gives me more to think about.

As stated above-- your mileage will go up once the engine is broken in-- give it 10,000 miles.

Mine has 5:38's with the Warn O.D, 6.50 x 16 tires, Solex, & OMIX Distributor. I've seen 21MPG around here, on the highway, cruising at 55-60 MPH, with the windsheild down. I'd say 18 with it up.

It will do 60 up all but the steepest hills on the highway, and then 60 down them. :) I wish I had some taller gears.

I'd keep the 4.27's & overdrive and look into getting a little more power out of your engine (as stated above). You run electronic ignition? I have .010 shave off of the head (wish I went more), a brand new cam & lifters, the intake & exhaust runners smoothed out, and an electric radiator fan. The next step will be a mild turbo. :D

Folding the windshield down helps alot & is a ton of fun!
