Just put my Ross steering box back together. No issues there. A new seal greased bearings and bushings. Was in good working order when I disassembled so I didn't feel the need to replace anything else. On the bench from center I have almost two complete turns clockwise and counterclockwise. The hash marks on the pitman arm line up with the hash marks on the lever shaft. Thats where they were when I disassembled it. After I installed the box and check its range of motion I have sufficient clearence for a left turn at just shy of two revolutions, however I fall about 10-15 minutes short of two revolutions on a right turn because the pitman arm hits the oil pump.

    box installed:

Am I missing something? When the drag link is connected will the steering stops limit travel at something less then two turns from center?

Are your engine mounts in good shape? If they've sagged it could cause interference issues.

Full range of motion from turned all the way left to all the way right on your tires does not require the full range of motion of the steering gear. Once everything is put together I'm pretty sure your bumpstops on the axle and/or tires hitting the frame will stop that pitman arm way before it hits the oil pump. That pitman arm and drag link don't need to move as much as the steering gear will allow it.

motor mounts are ok, not new but not bad.

Todays project is the drag link. I was hoping this may be the case.

Installed the drag link today. My concerns were unwarrented. Once installed the steering stops made contact before the steering box reached full lock. I ended up with one and a half turns from center. Plenty of clearence at the oil pump.
