Paint HEI Cap?

Has anyone painted the cap on their HEI conversion? Most aftermarket units have bright colors that are probably intended as brand identity. Some may wish to color match to accessories or just black it out so its not so visible.

 

I've done it. Just mask off the terminals really well. Don't use metallic paint lol

 

I should have mentioned it up front, but I was considering the duplicolor plastic paint.

 

According to some sources, black plastic is an inferior material for distributor caps. Black is a good color for recycled and odd-lot material, because the black pigment hides any other colors. And carbon black (the pigment) is said to reduce the dielectric constant of plastic, enabling arc-over.

I expect that the colored plastic is a quality feature, not just brand recognition. Certainly the manufacturer can choose any color if they use virgin material.
