Ok, I've been running a Y-pipe, passenger door side dump with an unknown muffler from the muffler shop. It sounds like a fairly cammed up v8 on idle and through the range without screaming, "hey, i'm 16 with a new Z-71 on daddy's dime". I liked it at first, but maybe I'm getting old, but I'm just tired to listening to it. I'm trying to put on a set of OE side steps on it now and that muffler under the toolbox has got to go. The muffler shop said that was the quietest small muffler he could find. I think if I got it out of the way and put it behind the rear axle, I would have room for the step on that side and room for a larger muffler. Plus, if the dump was in the back, I would hear it less than where it is now.

I want it to sound as close to a Honda Prius Hybrid as I can. Anybody got a brand and part # they could recommend?

don't know if you remember mine's tone.
but it has a pair of http://www.summitracing.com/parts/XYZ-903/ 2" ovals without any tailpipes at all, just dumped under the cab

I recall a comment on the cab being quiet :driving:
it would be much quieter inside if it dumped strait out the back with an angle cut tip.

Can't help with part #'s but I do know running the exhaust all the way out the back can quiet it down considerably. If the exhaust system is designed right it can increase torque as well.

Steve, Yea, I saw that, but the whole thing is pipe clamped. I think the muffler shop did a great routing job and everything is welded so it looks better. I just need to know of a muffler

Joe, Yea, your was fairly quiet, about the same as mine now. I'm trying to go quieter

If you're willing to reroute back to the rear axle, go to the junkyard and get an OEM muffler off of a late model Cadillac with Northstar. My brother had one, and they are about the quietest muffler I've ever heard. They're big, though, would need some custom bending and welding to get it into place.
