    I'm in the process of converting my '65 CJ-5 F134 to a Buick V6 231 Oddfire motor. The Motorcraft/Autolite 2100 has been recommended. After doing some research I'm leaning towards a 1.08" 2100 with a MrGasket 1937 2bbl to 2bbl adapter. The local FLAPS (autozone) offers a 2 barrel for a '67 mustang with a 289 (Champion 6-313) for $85 plus a $10 core and a 2 barrel for a '71 Bronco with a 302 for $111 plus a $30 core

Website Cross References are as follows:

    Mustang

    O.E.M. #C7DF-E, C7DF-F, C7DF-G, C7DF-H, C7DF-N, C7DF-R, C7DF-S, C7DF-V, C8OF-K

    Bronco

    O.E.M. #D0BF-C, D0BF-D, D0UF-B, D0UF-C, D0UF-E, D0UF-F, D0UF-G, D1BF-A, D1TF-CA, D1TF-EA, D1UF-AA, D1UF-CA, D1UF-DA, D1UF-SA, D2UF-AA, D2UF-BA, D2UF-EA, D2UF-LA, D2UF-MA

Would there be a substantial difference in the 2100s for the Bronco application? I selected manual transmissions during the drop down selection.

    As always help/advice is appreciated.

What about an Intermediate 304 application?

Float setting might be different between the Mustang and Bronco, can't think of what else could be.

I thought those came with Carter BBDs. Have to do some research.

I did some reading somewhere that seemed to suggest the Broncos might have a float dampener spring or some such thing. Don't know if that would be important or not.

Bronco might have a manual choke. Otherwise, they will be substantially the same. Jets are availalbe from Parker Carburetion should you need them.

I used a 2100 from a '79 360 Cherokee on my truck. The later carbs have a 2-stage power valve and are jetted leaner. The single stage valve is cheaper at about $5.00 vs the 2-stage at about $30. The rebuild kit is priced accordingly.

A Jeep carburetor will have an automatic (thermoelectric) choke. These can be converted to all electric, or to manual with the Help kit. All electric is probably neater, but you need an oil pressure switch for them to work best (on only when the engine is running). All the Jeep 304s came with this carburetor. After 1974, they include a float dampling spring that reduces flooding or surging over rough terrain.

These are really easy to rebuild - you can probably find one for $15 at your local pick-your-part.

The problem with junkyards is finding the time to get to one. It's about 1 hour to the nearest yard. Easier for me just to buy the rebuilt unit.

Try a '72. If you buy a rebuilt, the float damper will probably be gone.

Holley only. I believe I'm looking for a 2100 with either the 1.08" or the 1.14" venturis.

The Holley is an aftermarket replacement. They came stock with a Motorcraft 2100.

I think you'd be fine with either carb. Napa shows a 1968 Bronco with a manual choke; I have a 2100 on my shelf from that era, and it only has one ported vacuum tap (no EGR), and no built-in PCV port. Some Fords have an insulator with the PCV port included.

Re the float spring, I think there's no guarantee that you'll get the float spring even if that year Jeep/Bronco came with one. I looked at many Jeep carbs (most obviously rebuilt) till I found one that still had the float spring. I believe that rebuilders have a spec for each carb, and assemble core bodies with good new and used parts - thus you won't neccessarily get a carb from the exact same vehicle that you specify. How close it is to the correct spec will depend on the rebuilder.

Guess I'll go with cheap unit then, I unless I can scrounge up a cheap core somewhere.

Joel, if you need the insulator with the PCV connection I think I have one.

Joel, I'd give you the carb I have for what's in it, but it has a problem. I rebuilt it, but I can't find the right plastic swivel that goes on the choke arm to pull the flap closed. The swivel that Pony Carbs sells is wrong. I think I paid $10 or $15 for it at the Rialto pick-and-pull.
