    Welcome from nearby Ohio. :stout:

It's really a matter of what you want out of your Jeep. When you ask "is it worth more", are you looking to tinker with it and then sell it? Just curious. Looks like you already have 2 trail rigs, so maybe there's motivation to restore this one.

Would love to see pics of your CJ(s)!!! :)

What I am thinkgin of is restoring it so that I can get PA antique tags for it. With that I do not have to get inspection for it and can literally almost do anythign I want with it. I am thinking that I'll see how I like it then and then maybe start with a lift and all the other goodies. Plus we have a jeep show in the summer here that is a nice size and hopfully I will goe it to that. Sure I will probably sell it within the year its done as I am finding jeeps and resotreing them/fixing them all the time. This is my first older jeep and am really excited about it cause of all the heriatge and stuff. I am sure I will be on here asking questions as to what is right or wrong or how to fix something.

    Welcome from Florida!!!

It is a tough call if it is good shape already then it maybe worth it to restore it since it is actually the first year of the cj5. But it is your jeep.

Welcome from just across the Susquehanna ! :)

In this area, a good early CJ5 trail rig will only bring $3-4K if it's pretty well done. A fully restored might bring another grand, but not much more.
I'd go the resto route for now, get the antique tags. Then wheel it, see what she will do. Add upgrades as necessary.

What show are you referring to? PA Jeeps show at the fairgrounds in York, or is there a show on your side of the river?

We'll have to get an Early CJ5 group together at the next show, there are quite a few of us fairly local.

Got pics of your new rig? Where did you find it?

Yep resto-mod. Keep it looking like an old CJ but put a mild lift with mud tires and you could even hide a locker or two with no one really noticing it.

Very tough jeep that still looks like an old jeep suited for highway use but capable of moderate to rough offroad use.

    Welcome from Norwalk!

I agree with John here. I like the looks of the old cj. Put the necessary mods in (roll cage, brake upgrade, small lift if you need to, etc) and keep it stock looking. I do like the wider tires, maybe 31's ???

No matter what you decide, just enjoy it :)

    That's about a 2" lift (add-a-leaf...cheap but effective) - 31 X 10.50 MT's. No lockers yet but I'm working on it.

    '65 Metal hard top

Original Kelsey Hayes 15" X 8" steel wheels. And I have 3.73 gears which most people don't really like, but for me and the highway there OK.

Howdy from Western NY. If your Jeep is all there and in decent shape, I'd say restore it. Finding complete old unmolested Jeeps is getting harder by the minute. Upgrade a few things (like brakes!) to make it more drivable, but keep it mostly stock. Lift it an inch or 2, put some mudders on it and you're good to go. You'll probably be surprised at how well it does offroad, even in its stock form. :)
