i want to replace my fenderwell headers with manifolds and run stock or twin exhaust on the jeep. my question is, with the 304 can you buy the y pipe for single exhaust or a complete dual system without taking to muffler shop? also if anyone has some pictures of this, please post them. thanks

The Y pipe is custom bend only.

Unless you get lucky and someone who bought one years ago, never used it and lists it on a local For Sale site. Can't tell you how quick I jumped on that deal :).

You might be able to use the #40376 Walker Y-pipe from a '76 V8 CJ-5. Could be quite difficult to install though, since the original pipe comes in two pieces. Also rather expensive: $125 from Rock Auto.

I'd think your best bet is to go to your local muffler shop and have them weld up what you need. IME these shops want to weld everything, so if you want to keep the original bolt-together configuration, you will need to make that very clear from the outset.

Also IME, muffler shop work is not that terribly expensive. Find a good shop and they will help you out.

For reference...I have multiple recent quotes for a single exhaust from the manifold back, with a Delta flow 60 muffler, for $400. No Cat.

Any pics of a stock setup around? I'm planning to replace my holy dual glass packs with a custom y pipe and stock muffler. What diameter y pipe, inlet pipe, and outlet? What brand for a stock muffler?

Not sure if you have already done your exhaust, but I just had this done about 6 mths ago. Find a local muffler shop and they'll bend and weld the pipe for you. Can't remember off the top of my head the sizes, but your muffler shop should help with that.
