Figured I'd start a build thred. Here's my '65 CJ5, It's in amazing condition, almost no rot threw at all! original floors, hat channels, etc. no rot on the fenders or floors, the tool box floor is like new. Other then a very small hole under the gas tank (size of a quarter) and a very little bubbling on the rear panel where the body mount it is clean! (Check out the sweet wood frame with window screen over it for the grill.) Here she is! [IMG] [IMG] Purdy don't you think! three diff wheels on this side! [IMG] bent tire mount [IMG] This has gotta go!! A little work with the cutting torch and it was gone. Must have weighted 150 lbs.! [IMG] The boys and I decide that before it was even unloaded we had to make some changes. We found some 700x16 tires and rims, then the boys removed the cobbled together tow bar and extra cable on the front. The spare tire had taken a good hit and the side was caved in pretty good. We chained the jeep to the trailer and then hooked a come a long to the spare tire mount and gave it a back yard pull! Most of it came out and with some adjusting with the ball-peen hammer it was declared done for now. [IMG] [IMG]
Stuff removed from Jeep so far.

Here's the result of the days work. ( look the original tail lights are even there and in good shape.) [IMG] Even behind the spare tire bracket is not rusted out! [IMG] [IMG] There was a small coolant leak when we first loaded the Jeep it was cured after tightening the bolts on the water pump. The engine fires right up, and after a quick test drive the drive train seams to all be good! Brakes are close to non existent, but other then that we're thrilled!

Sweet Windy! How bout' that front bumber, are you gunna cut that off too? Between those two bumpers you have enough scrap steel to build a tank :)
Whats are your plans on this one? Look forward to the build :lurk:

Ya front will come probably come off soon. Seriously I think I will have removed about 300 lbs of metal and junk off it after the bumper goes.R) My plans are to keep it stock, replace all the brakes that don't work currently, then add a pto winch and other period correct accessories.
