I'm embarrased to ask this but here goes, the timing marks on my 304 have a R and an A on either end of the timing scale, which one is for before top dead center?
The headlight on the right side is dimmer than left, it is a new headlight, is this a ground issue? thanks Kirk

    The A side(advanced/retarded)

A dim headlight is usually a bad ground. Usually.

The 0 or line in between the A and R is actually your top dead center. The A is Advanced,(or BTDC)
