So I picked this up from a lady who was selling her house. This was her grandfathers jeep that he brought back from Germany. Apparently her father got it and was a pretty good carpenter. He made a top enclosure for it which looks really neat. The pictures with the rough edges were taken while overseas. Thankfully he had an interest in photography.

Cool! I'm no expert on the WWII Jeeps, but it looks like a good start to a good restoration. :)

That ain't a bad top in the old pictures, either! What's the purpose of the circular plate on the frame crossmember?

Very cool-love the vintage paperwork, too.
Is this one going to be restored?

Yes. M38A1s (and M38s?) have it too.

Quite a bargain at $100. Way more than that in parts here. The combat rims are worth at least that much.

What's its fate? Parts, a repop tub, something else?

I wonder exactly when the wooden body was made. It looks like it could have been an early prototype for the Willys Wagon... or conversely, it's a reasonable facsimilie of a Willys Wagon built after theywere already on the market.

Either way, very cool, great score!!

It was a common modification post war to make the jeep into a passenger car.. Some were done nicely and othersw wer slapped together. The pics show a very nice one. There were specialty bodymakers in Europe who made the wagon bodies too. Old issues of popular mechanics and similar mags had articles and plans you could order to do the same.....

That paperwork is pretty amazing stuff, I'm sure the g503 guys would love to see the bill of sale from the army.

    Thanks for sharing the pics!

Thanks guys. I plan to do a restoration someday in the future. This will probably be the last jeep I buy for a while. The 3b needs to be fitted into the trailer before winter

It's really cool you got all that paperwork, I got a hand printed bill of sale and a bunch of grief from
the Wi DMV. I'll figure out how to post pictures one of these days, vacationing at my daughters in Ga
I'll get my grandson to give me some lesson.
