even though my t90 is in a 2a..i know this forum gets more traffic..anyway.trans felt super lubed/greased up when shifting...put trans in neutral at light..light turned green, go to put trans in gear..shifter wont move...towed home..removed tower..looks like thats my problem...let me know what you think..

looks like the "set screw" on the "top" rail is backing out, and the other one backed out..causing the rail to rotate, fork to move, and bind everything up??. am i right?.....where can i get a new set screw(if that is the case), what should its orientation be?...

also...trans looks good?...what gear am i in?...when i spin fork around..what orientation should everything be in?

I am inclined to believe it is a roll pin, or a tapered pin, etc, and not a set screw.

Whatever it is, is is now in the bottom of your tranny--------and you need to get it out of there before driving again.

Put the tranny in N in the gears. Make sure the top is in N as well. Lay the top next to the tranny, you can see how the forks will line up. They are not a 'tight' in tolerance as you may think.

Do you have a FSM? I believe they have measurements for the fork positions in them.

There are "dimples" in the shift rails the set screws go into. The ones that use roll pins have holes through the shift rails the roll pin goes through.

Oh - your right - looking back I see they are apart. I thought the OP was concerned that they didn't line up right.

ok..so looks like i have to rotate the shift rod so the notch fits into the shifter "square", slide the fork back, insert the pin thats floating around my case. (or replace both pins/screws) Then shifter in neutral...and trans in neutral...looking at my pictue, is my trans in neutral?..i believe so as she was rolling..? am i missing something(other than new tower gasket)

Yes, you are nominally in neutral. Move the shift collars to each end of their travel, and exactly mid-way in that travel is precisely in neutral.

This pic is for T-86 but it basically the same as T-90. Pic shows shifter in neutral position. Note the roll pin positions. Yours may have set screws.

This pic shows the spring and ball holes that go under the shift rails. I think you will find these missing?

Looks to me like you'll have to take the shift top completely apart to replace the missing pin. Looks like the R-1 fork gets installed on its shaft, and put in the empty top. Then the stalk goes in, and the 2-3 shaft is inserted through the top and the fork, and the 2-3 pin driven in last.

    Aint it 'fun' :)

I have found that a small wood dowel can sometimes 'help' the stuck flexy thing - and wiggling the gear set.

On the other hand - with as much as you have dropped down there, I would pull it to make sure it's in good shape.
