Powertrax

Anybody out there using a Powertrax limited slip in a D30. Looking for some feedback.

 

no, but a buddy has one in an old ford 4x4 pickup, also in the front axle. i don't know what the problem was but it did explode on him after about 1 year of use. i *think* one of the bolts was not torqued properly so it came loose and started breaking things.

i use a powr-lok and am very happy with it. no worries about it breaking and it grabs well. they pop up on ebay every once in awhile and r&p sells rebuilt ones. new ones are available but for the price you might as well go selectable.

I found one new for about $500. Talk about sticker shock! I found one new in the original Kaiser box for $300 about 5 years ago for my D27. I'm not in a hurry though and I'd take a used one if I can get a good deal on one. I found a used one yesterday and they wanted $400 for it. No way! I wouldn't go to the effort of putting it in without rebuilding it and that gets me right back to $500

 

I have a Powertrax in an AMC 20 (82 CJ-7) and it works great.

 

$500! Wow you could buy two Lockrights or Aussie lockers for that!
