15" Tire Availability Issues

    I had my mind set to go with a new set of BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 Size 33X10.50R15 along with a new set of Pro Comp 15X8 wheels. I started making calls locally and all over the internet only to find out that they are on backorder at the factory maybe indefinetly? One place recommended that I increased my wheel size to a 16" which I really don't want to do. The closest tire size in the above make and model that I want is a 32X11X16 they are not available in a 33. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions or better yet suggestions where I might check other than the below for the 15" tire option.

    They're back ordered from Discount Direct. The store in Santa Fe has them in stock. I ran into the same thing when I bought the Hankook Dyna Pro's for my truck.

    I was talking to the guy who own our local tire shop here in town and he said that 15's are going to get harder and harder to find because some company's are just not making them anymore.

    I bought a 5 tire/wheel combo package from National tire and wheel. Mickey Thompson Classic II 15x8 on BFG AT 31x10.5x15. They didn't have a problem. Matter of fact, my Sams Club carries that tire and size in stock. 15's in any brand are the cheapest and that's why I went with that size

    He's looking for 33X10.50's, and I'd bet they're back ordered at Discount Direct because they sold out. This has become a popular size.

    31X10.50X15 are far, far more prevalent and available than 33X10.50X15, which is what he's looking for

    Ya - the 33X10.5X15 is a limited size to begin with as most are 12.5 in 33s. One of the reasons I got 6 when I did as I always seem to split one and then don't have a good spare for the rest of the tire life. I rotate all 6 in so I keep the wear even.

    I did look at going to the 16s, but got such a good deal on the 15s I stayed with them.

    Yes, eventually it will be an issue to find tires for 15” rims since the market is moving to bigger rims to clear bigger disk brakes.

    FWIW, you can get a LT285/75R16 which is really close to a 33X11.50X16, but they're a bit more expensive, and some of them only come in LR E. E's are too stiff for a Jeep IMO.

    Why would they not make them any more if there are still so many hundreds of thousands of vehicles running around that use them?
