I called 2 different auto part stores in town and they both showed 2 different rotors. They both asked if I had 2 or 6 bolt steering knuckle mounting bolts. Which ones am I suppose to tell them?

If your caliper brackets are attached like that then yes.

    77 and 78 used 6 bolt caliper brackets and a 1 1/8" rotor.

So I need to say I have a 77 cj5 with the 6 bolt caliber bracket to get the right rotor if I am using chevy caliber brackets? I know I need a 1 1/8 rotor.

Yes. '79 and newer used a 7/8" thick rotor and are too thin if using the GM/FSJ caliper brackets. Take a tape measure in with you and measure the rotor thickness as many of the parts computers and some of the books have the wrong listings.
