The Scout D300 has a texas pattern mount to the tranny - internally they are the same.

If I'm not mistaken they were only available for the '79 model year, or was it 1980?

VERY late '79 and '80 only.

The Jeep 300 has a round bolt pattern to transmission similar to a 231, 241.242, etc. Also there are two flavors of Jeep 300. One with a longer rear output shaft and one with the shorter. The shorter one is about 3/4" shorter. Doesn't sound like much but can make a difference with rear driveshaft/u-joint angles. Also the shorter ones are a little bit stronger. If the speedo gear housing threads into the output housing it's short. If it is held in by a retainer and single bolt then it's long.
