What is involved with repairing rusted out body mount points? The passenger side is about the same but to a lesser degree.

I cut out bad metal and welded in new metal. You can either buy pre-made body parts or make your own...most of it is right angles so pretty easy to form up.

Hey Norm, would you please send me links to any of your tub repair threads. I want to try to tackle this myself so any help getting my mind around what is involved would be helpful. Thanks

You need flat stock to repair the floors, and most would use pre-made hat channels for the hat channels.

Check Classic Enterprises: http://www.classicent.com/jeep.php Scroll down to "Floor supports" for the CJ-5.

If you have a brake and shrinker-stretcher you can make these parts easily, or substitute thin-wall rectangular tubing for the channels.

In any case, you're going to be a-cuttin' and a-weldin'.

Here's my personal site where I've documented some of it. Check out the links for body work.

    https://sites.google.com/site/1974jeepcj5/

I bought hat channels and the front floors from eBay sellers. The more difficult pieces such as the side repair panel, floor riser between front and rear, and some of the rear valence supports I bought from Classic (see Tim's link above)...they have very good quality.

This is also why I built that wooden body cart that you saw me tearing down a few weeks back, it was easier for me to remove the body from the frame to work on it. But that is just asking to do more work.

i bought my hat channel in 3 foot sections from jc whitney. it was suprisingly of good quality. it was almost the same size as the factory. i would buy it again. the rest i just used flat steel and cut out whatever i needed to make my repairs. I think jeeps are pretty easy to do mst body work on because they are mostly flat.

It looks like there are 4 body mount points across the back - 2 tail light pannel and 2 valence, right?
