What is the proper cj5 to get a Dana 30 out of that is the same width as my stock dana 44 rear? I was thinking the later cj5's were wider than the early ones, I have a 61 cj5. Did any have disk brakes?

    from our tech section

What Dana 30 is the ‘best’ swap for my Dana 25/27?1977 – 1978 CJ Dana 30s due to the thicker rotor for heavier disc brakes. While the rotor is a bit more expensive the calipers and pads tend to be much cheaper. These axles are also narrow track axles, while wider than the stock axle by roughly 3″ they are not as wide as the later CJ wide track axles.
However, any Dana 30 from 1972-1975 will bolt right in and has at minimum
