Hey guys, I am planning on taking my Dana 30, which came out of 77 CJ, to the shop to get it re-geared tomorrow. The way I understand it the yokes do not match up with my t18. I have the driveshaft and yoke from my old 4cyl Jeep that I no longer have. Can the old tc yoke be swapped onto my current set up and use the 4 cyl driveshaft? I want to make sure the shop puts the right yoke on the Dana 30 the first time. Thanks guys.

    A model 30 will have a 27 spline yoke.
Your old TC yoke is only 10 splines.
So NO you will need a 27 spline pinion yoke from 1970 or later Dana axle.

First, a T-18 is a Borg-Warner truck four speed. A Dana or Spicer 18 is a transfer case. Knowing what year Jeep and how it's equipped helps with these type of questions. I'm guessing you have a stock V-6, 3 speed of some sort, and a Dana 18 transfer case. If you have the small yoke on the front output of the transfer case as used with stock V-6 power, then you can use the larger transfer case yoke from a 4 cylinder powered Jeep and use the 4 cylinder driveshaft if it is the right length. Depending on suspension you may or may not run into clearance issues with your starter and or bellhousing.

Regardless of the yoke size envolved I took it He's wanting to install a 10 spline transfer case yoke onto a 27 spline axle pinion.
    That just can't work.

You're right it won't. And I was telling him he could swap out the transfer case yoke to the larger one so it matches the pinion yoke on the 30 and use a 4 cylinder propeller shaft if it's the right length.

Thanks for the replies guys. So, just to make sure before I drop the axle off tomorrow, what yoke do I want on the axle? Is the factory one ok? I can figure out the TC and driveshaft later on, as this is going to take me a while before Im ready to connect everything back together.

Factory dana 30 yoke with the 4 cylinder transfercase yoke installed in place of the small v6 model on your transfercase. Thats the way i set mine up. Then I shortened the factory 77 front driveshaft up and used it.
