74 emergency brake cables

I'm looking for alternatives to buying new e-brake cables for my 74 CJ5. Do any junkyard doner candidates from other makes/models come to mind?

OR is there any way to refurb my original rusty ones ie long soak in a PB Blaster bath?

 

Just wondering why you wouldn't want to go with new as they are still available for relatively cheap money

 

The man has a point. I think I priced them at about $25-30 a piece at Orrielys. To me thats a small price to pay for cables that are not pre-rusted.

 

Get new ones,,, the time you spend trying to referb the old ones isn't worth it. and at the end of the ordeal you still have old cables.
While we are on the subject,,, does any one know where to get the retainer clips for the cables??????????

Thanks, I looked again and I found them on quadratec for $18 a piece. Somehow I thought they were alot more ($70 - 80). I might get a ball cap while I'm at it!

 

dbender when i bought mine they came with the retaining clips. if i can find my old ones i will give them to you and you can just have them

 

Thanks loads Road hog... I need only one,,, where the "E" cable connects to the body under the tub. Where are you located... So. Cal. ??????
