1948-53 CJ3 gas tank fit a 1966 CJ5?

    Anyone know if a gas tank from 1948-53 Jeep CJ3 would work in my 66 CJ5?

    A guy on craigslist is listing a new tank from a 48-53 CJ3....Seeing as mine is leaking thought I might grab it.

    I think they will cross. The fill neck might be at a different angle, I will look in my stack and see if I can tell a difference.

    Nope. It will not fit.

    The the overall size is basically the same, but fill nozzles won't match. COmpare pictures on the MTS site: http://www.mtscompany.com/jeep.htm
