I acquired this jeep and it titled as a 1971 but I know it is an earlier model. The vin # is 8305 017 350128 and the 225 build date is 1968. Can anyone help determine the actual build date? Thanks i have pictures of the jeep on my profile but do not know how to attatch them to this post.Help! [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Looks like a '68 to me. A '71 will have the gas tank in the rear, under the floor. The windshield is '76 or later, and the hood is from a M38A1 (military), since it has a shovel mount ... AFAIK only the mil vehicles got a shovel mount. The steering wheel looks earlier than '68.

Becasue of the high degree of interchange over the years, Jeeps often have a lot of history of parts swapping ... chassis from one year, body from another, title from a third ... a 'frankenjeep'. Not necessarily a bad thing in terms of function, unless you want a year-correct vehicle.

Looks like a good start. Tailgate looks correct for the year. Front bumper looks like a replacement. Windsheild - I'm not sure, but it has the wiper motor mounted inside(front of steering wheel) I have not seen them like that. Turn signal unit looks to be an aftermarket unit. No heater ? I think it used to be Red at one point :)
