I have a 59 CJ5 who's engine is freshly rebuilt (I'm disabled so the work is done by a shop that does restorations. The owner has an old Jeep), there are less than 2000 miles on it. We have the original Hurricane engine T90, Dana 18 (also freshly rebuilt), and one of Herm Tilford's overdrive's installed. I have been operating at highway speeds for some time now 55± 5 MPH wind and hill dependent.

I have had a long problem with her over pressurizing the crankcase. Oil was running down the side of the filler tube so I made a gasket out of a couple strips of inner tube. Since sealing the oil filler my oil bath bowl now fills up to overflowing within a hundred or hundred-and-fifty miles. The wire mesh pre-cleaner drains a significant amount of oil once the bowl is removed, oil actually pools in the folds of the tube that goes between the filter and engine.

I saw the thread from April about the Willys tech order to modify the draft tube that mounted on the left side of the engine and will give it to the shop tomorrow. I have the vacuum pump on the fuel pump but it's not connected to the wiper motor yet (installing the rebuilt vacuum motors is a goal ). Where does the air from the vacuum pump go? Is it dumped into the crankcase? Was there something that was supposed to be installed between the vent tube that goes from the filler tube and the air filter to prevent oil from migrating into the air system?

Also, my oil light comes on after running at highway speeds. I give it a few extra rpm's and it goes out. The engine runs cool.

Although I know some are averse to running a Jeep at these speeds for safety reasons I am up to the task. Last week while cruising at 60MPH my windshield blew out of it's gasket (in one piece) hit me in the face and landed in my lap. Without losing speed I put the glass in the passenger seat and drove on. Safelite sent one of their repair techs out forty miles one way to fix the problem and said the windshield was too small in both directions and the wrong gasket was installed. So even though they caused the problem the fixed it quickly.

the output of the vac pump dumps to the line going to the intake manifold there should be a tee to the pcv valve.
My opinion on the oil control is it is a byproduct of the 134's stroke when I run on the highway it will lube the frame when the oil bath is overfilled, and If it gets bad enough it will keep the spark plugs from firing, the turbocharged cars have similar issues and must run an air oil separator or an oil catch can on the crankcase breather.
I have also noticed some 134 dipsticks have a baffle halfway down but not all, and the baffle should help control oil a small amount.
